Meet Our Hosts

Jared and Selena have been married for 27 years and are the parents of nine children and one grandchild. They are 3rd generation ranchers, managing the operation Jared’s grandfather and father built in Secret Pass and Clover Valley, Nevada.

Jared is a life-long learner and has been applying and teaching principles of holistic management, soil regeneration, and personal development. Jared has mentored many young people seeking to get a start in agriculture.

The Sorensen's raise and market grass-fed beef, teach onsite and virtual classes and offer internships on the ranch.

I know the pressure you’re feeling because I’ve faced it too. I’ve gone through sleepless night’s wondering if I’m going to be able to keep this ranch alive to pass on the lifestyle to my children. So many are leaving agriculture because the work is too hard and the profits too lean.

I am passionate about sustainability in our industry. I want to see more privately owned agriculture businesses able to operate independently and not rely on government subsidies that can change with the next administration. I want to ensure that we don’t experience food scarcity as a nation. I see the nutrition depletion happening in our food and want to create a better, more nutritious product. I want to be a great steward of this land God has blessed us with.

Will this work on a small-scale/ large-scale operation?

YES! Our strategies work for large ranches that are meant to support and sustain a family as a full-time business. We have seen these same principles applied to small-scale operations with great success. The principles are universal, the application needs to be adjusted and customized for every individual property. We will show you how to do that during the event.

How can I prepare for the event?
